Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge the land on which we live, work, and gather where the Bow River meets the Elbow River—called “Moh’kins’tsis” in Blackfoot, now known as the City of Calgary. This land is located on the traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy, comprised of the Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika First Nations. Other Nations under Treaty 7 in Southern Alberta who call this place home include the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Îethka Stoney Nakoda Nations comprised of the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney First Nations. We also recognize both the Otipemisiwak Métis and the Inuit citizens living here in Calgary who have longstanding connections to the land and who form a vital part of our contemporary urban community.
